The Redox Behaviour of Randomly Dispersed Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes both in the Absence and in the Presence of Adsorbed Glucose Oxidase

چکیده
The electrochemical behaviour of SWCNTs randomly dispersed on gold and glassy carbon electrode surfaces was characterised via cyclic voltammetry and complex impedance spectroscopy, using the ferri/ferrocyanide couple as a redox active test probe . In subsequent investigations glucose oxidase (GOx) was adsorbed onto the SWCNT ensemble without apparent denaturation of the enzyme. Cyclic voltammetry and potential step chronoamperometry were used to quantify and understand the process of electron transfer between the immobilised protein redox site and the working electrode. The effect of pH on the system was also investigated. In particular, we have shown that, for the calculation of electron transfer rate constants for surfaceimmobilised redox systems, chronoamperometry is preferable to voltammetry, which has been the technique of choice until now.

The electrochemistry of banana tissues on a carbon paste electrode modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is presented. Cyclic voltammetry is applied to investigate the direct electrochemistry of banana tissues i.e. a source of polyphenol oxidase (PPO). A redox couple with an anodic and counterpart cathodic peak is obtained. The influence of various parameters such as pH,...

The redox behaviour of glucose oxidase adsorbed on glassy carbon electrodes which have been modified with a dispersed mesh of single wall carbon nanotubes is probed both qualitatively and quantitatively using cyclic voltammetry and potential step chronoamperometry. We have shown that potential step chronoamperometry is the method of choice when conducting kinetic measurements for three reasons....

In this study, we describe the use of a sodium cholate suspension-dialysis method to adsorb the redox enzyme glucose oxidase (GOX) onto single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT). By this method, solutions of dispersed and debundled SWNTs were prepared that remained stable for 30 days and which retained 75% of the native enzymatic activity. We also demonstrate that GOX-SWNT conjugates can be assembl...

Electron transfer in biological systems is one of the leading areas in the biochemical and biophysical sciences, and in recent years there has been considerable interest in the direct electron transfer between redox proteins and electrode surfaces. However in the absence of mediating small molecules, the observation of well defined electrochemical behaviour of immobilized flavoprotein oxidase s...
